Are you ready to feel confident and prepared for your postpartum?

It’s about time!

We spend so much time planning for our birth that we overlook planning for the after–the messy, unexpected, beauty that is the fourth trimester. Birth spans a day (or two), postpartum is forever. Let me help you prepare!

Regardless of whether this is your first baby or your family is adding another to your brood, I firmly believe you deserve a restful and peaceful postpartum! Postpartum is forever, and physical healing can take up to a year or longer to fully heal, depending on the birth. Becoming a parent changes both you and your partner. You may even find a shift in your other relationships as well! Postpartum is a time of transition, rawness, realness, and transformation.

You are so strong and resilient and are about to embark on a breathtaking, mind-blowing parenting journey that you will continue for the rest of your life.

“[Julieanne’s] planning session paired with care postpartum made for an easier fourth trimester transition. If you are wondering if it is worth the investment – IT IS!”

Hi Friend! I’m Julieanne

I am a postpartum doula, massage therapist, and mom to a resilient, animated, and busy toddler boy. I’m a fan of podcasts, to-do lists, and driven by deadlines–a lover of deep conversations and going beneath the surface into the things that make us human. Tuning into my own intuition and trusting my gut is very important to me. I daydream about how to best convey the magic and cataclysmic nature of the postpartum experience to expectant parents. I work to make people feel like they are enough, to ensure that they are seen and heard, and encourage them to believe they really can do this.

Ready? Or not!

A peri bottle, some stretchy underwear and breastfeeding handouts…then a 6 week check to be prescribed birth control and cleared for sex. Sound familiar? This is the standard of care for hospital birth in the US. (And while midwifery care can be radically more holistic, I also see many home/birth center birthing families being unexpectedly under-prepared as well. Your midwife will check in on you a few extra times, but it isn’t within the scope of their work to prepare you for anything beyond birth and the immediate postpartum.)

After my emergency cesarean with my son and a week long NICU stay I was sent home to figure it out. Juggling healing from major abdominal surgery, postpartum blues, and anxiety around my baby–I never put him down! The resources and care I received while pregnant abruptly stopped and everyone focused their care on how my baby was.

Why did nobody tell me how hard this was going to be?

Why didn’t I know what was happening to my body?

Why does nobody talk about how to deal with the emotional rollercoaster?

I remember being terrified of going home and wishing I could take my son’s nurses home with me! At least then maybe someone could tell me what was normal; maybe even grab me a bagel  like they did in the hospital?

I had so many questions without answers, but in the depths of sleep deprivation and true “survival mode” I didn’t know how to articulate what I needed and was only vaguely aware (thanks to google!) of what to expect. I needed someone to come alongside me during pregnancy and continue support in the postpartum.

Everything stopped once the baby was born and I felt dropped off at the curb.

About a year later  after the fog had cleared I realized that this “standard of care” is less than ideal and I had an idea! Why not help other first time parents prepare for their postpartum?

I wish I had spent less time organizing baby clothes and more time learning about what changes I would go through relationally, emotionally and physically. The chaos of my experience could be so easily avoided for others. Then they would feel supported and have someone to check in on them without having to articulate their needs. They could learn what is normal, what to expect, and set up their support circles and have things organized before the baby arrives!

“So glad that Vital Flow was recommended to me by a friend! Her Postpartum Planning Session included a ‘What if’ discussion section that was above and beyond what our birth class prepped us for and ended up being what we needed most. Highly recommend hiring her for any and all of her services!”

You deserve better

My goal in offering postpartum planning is to help women set up their circles of support and identify their people and resources before the baby comes.

Who will nourish you?

Who will do the laundry? The dishes?

Who will witness your experiences and go through the nitty gritty with you in your vulnerability that is the raw postpartum?

Postpartum breaks you down and you have to find our identity again! Who will hold that space for you?

Postpartum planning is where you get a peek into the postpartum and set yourself up for success.

I will be your witness!

Postpartum is joy and overwhelm and tears and laughter and hormones. It’s an entire identity shift, changes in expectations, and unknown challenges. It will break you down and your support system will lift you back up and carry you through so you come out the other side a mother who is strong, capable, nourished and confident! You can do it alone but you weren’t made to. I’m here to say you don’t have to!

You deserve to have me show you the way.

Your Investment

What are you waiting for? Let me help you plan your confident and nourished postpartum!

“[Julieanne] has extensive knowledge about pregnancy, birth, postpartum and baby care! She’s really a wonderful person and I highly recommend her post partum planning and doula services!
